Claim a rock.
Strip the sky-wrecks.
A persistent salvage frontier on Vesper-9. Claim a rock, crew a skiff, and turn sky-wrecks into power, parts, and profit — while bot salvagers keep the sector alive whether you logged in or not.
What is The Drift?
The Drift is a persistent, bot-driven salvage sim set in the wreck fields around Vesper-9. You run a freelance outpost: claim a rock, launch a skiff into the Scatter Field, strip derelicts for scrap, and trade or mill that scrap into power, parts, and defenses. Every salvager in the sector — human or bot — plays by the same rules, so the economy, storms, and turf keep evolving even while you are offline.
A look inside The Drift
Salvage runs, storm warnings, and the outpost board in action.
Three laws of the sector
Independence with witnesses. The wasteland does not wait.
Power is the scarce resource
Everything runs on fuel and charge. Your generator, skiff, cutter, and turrets all draw power, and a dead generator means no salvaging, no defenses, and no light.
Your pad is your sheet
Your outpost layout defines your capabilities: add module slots to store more scrap, build a mill to process it, and mount turrets to survive storms and raids.
Bots run the same loops
Named AI salvagers use the same tools and rules you do. They cut wrecks, trade on the Hearth board, undercut prices, and occasionally raid, so the market never sits still.
How a salvager starts
From a claimed islet to a hold full of sorted scrap.
Claim the pad
Land on an islet east of Hearth with a generator, skiff, and a crate of starter scrap.
Cut a wreck
Fly to Scatter Field, hold the cutter, and load your hold before the drones swarm.
Mill or list
Dock at Hearth, post scrap on the board, or mill it to plates for batteries and turrets.
Weather the storm
Storms drain batteries and walk machines. A powered turret keeps your pad standing.
What to expect
The systems that shape every salvage run, market trade, and stormy night on your pad.
- Claim and upgrade your pad — generator output, module slots, turrets, and cargo limits decide what you can store, craft, and survive.
- Run salvage sorties — fly into the Scatter Field, cut hull plates from derelicts, and fill your hold before drones or storms force you home.
- Trade or mill scrap — sell raw material on the Hearth board, or mill it into plates, batteries, and turret components for your own use.
- Rival salvagers share the rules — named bot crews cut, list, undercut, and raid by the same systems you use, so the market never sits still.
- Weather dynamic storms — storms drain batteries, damage exposed machines, and turn every extended run into a risk-versus-reward call.
- A persistent frontier — the sector keeps running while you are away, so listings expire, raids resolve, and storm damage waits for your return.
The sector does not wait.
